fall beauty essentials

September 27, 2018

Despite the scorching hot temperatures in the south, we’re in the last week of September so that means that fall is officially here! Even though we still have a few more weeks before the temperature starts to drop in Louisiana I still like to indulge in some of my fall beauty favorites. In my opinion, some of the best makeup trends can be found during the fall, like smokey eyes, vampy lips, and all things matte. Today I’ve put together a list of some must have fall beauty essentials that you will definitely want to add to your collection this season.

Eye Shadow Palettes

Fall is a fun time to really get creative with your makeup and investing in a quality palette is key to creating bold looks. During the fall I like the stick to warm tone and burgundy palettes, and a few of my favorites are ABH Modern Renaissance, Morphe 35O 2, and Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions.

Modern Renaissance – This oldie but goodie eye shadow palette is usually the first one that I reach for as soon as fall hits. The wide range of mauves and cranberry shades can make really beautiful burgundy smokey eye looks.

Morphe 35O 2– This 35 eye shadow palette is an upgrade from the 35O palette and it has some of the most beautiful warm toned shadows. If you can only purchase one palette this season I would suggest getting this one, because of the versatility and shade range. This palette also has a nice mix of matte and shimmer shadows.

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions – This is the newest palette that I purchased for fall and the colors are stunning! The colors are super pigmented, have minimal fall out, and the gold is an absolute dream. This palette is on the smaller side so it can fit into your makeup bag easily for travel.

Lip Treatments & Vampy Lipsticks

Fall is all about matte and vampy lips, but before you apply a matte lipstick you should make sure that your lips are properly prepped for the drying formula. I love using the E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator before bed because it is gentle and it works great to repair dry and cracked lips. This exfoliator is infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils to nourish and protect your lips. After I exfoliate my lips I use Nivea’s Lip Butter to lock in moisture to my lips so when I wake up in the morning my lips are soft, plump, and ready for lipstick.

For fall I love a deep lipstick, and I have SO many favorites that I could probably write an entire blog post on just lipsticks alone. Lipsticks are one of my biggest makeup obsessions, but to prevent this blog post from turning into a novel… I’ll be quick. I like to have an oxblood, a mauve, a brown, a deep plum, and a burnt orange in rotation for fall, and a few that you should definitely add to your collection are:

Colourpop Rooch  // Oxblood

Colourpop Teenie Tiny // Deep Mauve

Stilla Baci // Light Mauve

NYX Dubai // Brown

Wet N Wild Sugar Plum Fairy // Plum

Morphe Peanut // Burnt Orange

MAC NightMoth // Lip Pencil

MAC Chestnut // Lip Pencil

Skin Care/Body Care

Once the weather gets colder my skin tends to get drier so I reach for coconut oil and body butter to add extra moisture to my skin. After I get out of the shower I like to apply a generous amount of coconut oil to my skin. To be honest, I use coconut oil all year long, but during the colder months I have to add something extra to it to keep my skin moisturized all day long. Bath and Body Works has an amazing body butter in one of my favorite scents, Black Currant Vanilla. Not only does this body butter smell scrumptious, but also it leaves my skin looking beautiful.

Deeper Scents

During the warmer months you may be drawn to more airy and floral perfumes, but as the seasons change your signature scent should too. I tend to gravitate towards very deep and spicy scents for fall like YSL “Black Opium” or Giorgio Armani “Si”. The thing about fragrances, however, is that every perfume smells differently on everyone. I would suggest you head to Sephora to get a few samples of perfumes that you are interested in and test them out to see how they mix with your body chemistry before being sold on a signature scent for fall. You should wear the sample scent all day and into the evening to get a good idea of how the perfume will wear throughout the day.
