HOW TO RESET AFTER A HOLIDAY WEEKEND

September 4, 2018

There are two types of people in the world: those who can pick back up where they left off after a vacation, and those who need a vacation, FROM THE VACATION. I certainly am someone who falls into the last category. Don’t get me wrong, I love holidays and long weekends, but I often feel exhausted when the fun is over and it’s time to get back to business. If your body is in need of a quick reset after this extended weekend, here are a few tips to get you back into the swing of things.

DRINK MORE WATER

If you drank a few more cocktails than you want to admit, or you ditched your calorie tracker apps over the break, instead of beating yourself up about it, drink a few extra glasses of water. Increasing your water intake is a great way to flush out toxins and reduce boating, which can make you feel sluggish. Increasing your water intake is also a way to combat exhaustion. If you’re someone who thinks the taste of water is too bland, throw in a few lemons and cucumbers for extra flavor and to enhance your detox.

HIIT IT

A HIIT workout is my answer to a lot of things because it’s a quick way to boost your mood, increase your energy, and sweat out toxins. Working out before bed also helps me to sleep so much better at night, and getting a good night’s rest is a crucial part of recovery after a long weekend.

TREAT YOUR SKIN

Your skin may be in desperate need of a reset after a long weekend and you may not even realize it. One way I like to reset my skin after a long weekend is by relaxing in a soothing Rose Petal Milk Bath. You don’t have to spend a lot of time and money at the spa for a luxurious milk bath, because the recipe is extremely simple. Mixing milk with your bathwater has been done for centuries, because it is so moisturizing and soothing for your skin. The lactic acid found in milk also works as a gentle exfoliator. Want to achieve your own Rose Petal Milk Bath at home? Lets get started.

INGREDIENTS:

2 Cups of Powdered Milk

7-10 Drops of Rose Essential Oil (or any essential oil of your choice)

Rose Petals

1/2 Cup of Dr. Teal’s Pink Himalayan Epsom Salt

Glass Jar

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix powdered milk, essential oils, and Epsom Salt together and place in a glass jar for 2-3 hours. Allowing the mixture to sit for a while before using it ensures that everything is properly mixed together.
  2. Run a warm bath and add at least one cup of the mixture to the water. If you have a larger size bathtub it is best to use the entire mixture.
  3. Sprinkle rose petals into the water
  4. Soak for 20 minutes in the Rose Petal Milk Bath to reap the soothing benefits

Once you’re done soaking your skin will be noticeable smoother and softer to the touch. The best thing about this milk bath is that it is not only easy to make, but it works with all skin types. How do you like to relax and recharge after a 3-day weekend?
